A man who went missing on his journey home to the East Kimberley early this year has been found dead near his bogged ute. Matthew Eves left Perth on January 1 to return to work in Kununurra, and was last seen travelling through the Burringurrah Community in the Gascoyne on the evening of January 2. It is believed the 44-year-old’s Mitsubishi Triton had been presenting mechanical issues during his trip. Police sounded the alarm over Mr Eves’ disappearance on January 20 and have since conducted extensive ground and air searches in the area he was last sighted. Police have confirmed Mr Eves’ body was found close to his ute on a bush track at Mount Phillip Station near Carnarvon on February 25. His death is not being treated as suspicious and police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
