Heatwave warning for WA as Perth temperatures set to surge to 35C with no rain predicted for this week

Perth is set to continue to turn up the heat this week, with forecasters warning a low intensity to moderate heatwave will hit residents in parts of WA from Wednesday.
The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting northwestern WA will swelter through a severe to low intensity heatwave.
While Perth will narrowly miss the scorching heatwave, residents in the metro areas are still experiencing warm temperatures between the high 20s to mid 30s this week.
BoM Meterologist Mia Williams said Places like Kalbarri, Morawa, and Eneabba may reach 40C on Wednesday and Thursday, though temperatures are not forecast to reach 40C further south.
“A heatwave warning for parts of the Gascoyne will come out on Monday for Wednesday until Friday.”
“Currently the Gascoyne and western Pilbara are expected to reach 40C today, and have maximum temperatures in the low to mid-40s until the end of the week, she told PerthNow.
Temperatures will soar from Wednesday, with the mercury in Perth for the middle of the week set to reach around 35C — a slight increase from the warm sunny weather on Tuesday.
Locals can look forward to cooler mornings for some slight relief, with Tuesday morning expected to bring a low of 14C.
Overnight temperatures are expected to remain in the high teens to low 20s, offering some relief to residents across WA.
The toasty temperatures in WA’s capital are being driven by easterly winds dragging heat in from inland areas, with the coastal Fremantle Doctor bringing slight relief with a sea breeze touching suburbs like Cottesloe, Fremantle and Scarborough.
The hot and sunny conditions are expected to continue into Thursday and Friday before easing slightly through the weekend, although temperatures will remain above average for a hot weekend set for beach days.
There is no chance of rain across the metro area over the next seven days, with clear skies estimated to stay around all week long.
However, WA’s north has seen opposite conditions after thunderstorms pummeled the region on Sunday afternoon.
A severe thunderstorm hit the Kimberley and Pilbara coast on Sunday with violent weather being caused by a moist and unstable air mass which hovered across the region overnight, according to the Bureau.
“Heavy falls and flooding are possible over the Kimberley, North Interior, and eastern Pilbara from a tropical low about the south-western Kimberley.”
“Mild conditions in the south-west, with hot and windy weather in the southeast, easing by Tuesday,” Ms Williams said.

Residents in the towns of Telfer, Wallal Downs, Pardoo Roadhouse, Sandfire and Shay Gap were issued a storm advice warning on Sunday at midday with an “Act now and stay safe” alert.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services said the threat was reduced just after 6.30pm on Sunday night.
However, the Fitzroy River saw a total of 174mm rain fall in the upper Fitzroy catchment with further rainfall expected across the next several days.

Main Roads has urged those in the State’s north to drive cautiously on the roads, with the heavy rainfall anticipated to flood roads in the region.
