A tropical low was located at 2pm today moving over open waters about 550km WNW from Broome, and was moving east at 25km/hr.

The Bureau of Meteorology said it was expected the low would continue to move to the east overnight, then turn south towards the Kimberley coast on Saturday before turning southwest on Sunday

The BoM said there was a chance this track may take it close to the mainland and there was a possibility the low could intensify to cyclone strength during Saturday or early Sunday morning.
