Broome residents are being warned to lock up their motorised scooters after an increase in thefts through the area in the past week.

Officer-in-charge acting Sen. Sgt Kev Hall said they had arrested and charged someone after they were identified through CCTV footage

“Sadly in many instances the majority of these scooters were easily accessed, often unsecured and therefore easily stolen,” he said.

“To assist us, Police ask owners to always ensure that their scooters are locked when unattended and report any suspicious behaviour to Broome Police or Crime Stoppers.

“Be part of the solution not the problem.”
