Staff reportersBroome Advertiser

A semi-trailer laden with diesel has come off a truck on Broome Highway, about 5km from the resort town.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services said the accident had caused a minor fuel spill near the Broome to Cape Leveque Road turn-off.

DFES said the trailer was stable and they were working with contractors to pump the remaining fuel into another tanker at the scene.

Traffic management is in place, with one lane of the two-lane highway closed.

The truck was heading towards Broome when its tank somehow became detached from the vehicle.

The incident was reported just after 2pm today and no injuries have been reported at this stage.
