Runners ready to hit Broome beach

Robert DoughertyBroome Advertiser

Broome’s beaches will be awash with runners when the Broome International Airport Marathon Festival sprints into town on Sunday.

Athletes are in their final stages of preparation for the 42.2km Broome International Airport Marathon, which takes place between 10am and 2pm near the Broome Surf Club on July 16.

Late entries can still be made on Saturday for one of the three events which include the 21.1km Phoenix Fitness Half Marathon or the 10.5km Matso’s Dash held over the weekend.

Event organiser Glenn Taylor said the marathons are always an excellent opportunity for runners and walkers to challenge themselves

“There has been fantastic interest from new and experienced runners, locals and visitors,” he said.

“Entries are ahead of previous years with over 100 online entries received.”
