Potential cyclone could impact Kimberley

Staff reportersBroome Advertiser

A tropical low is likely to form into a cyclone north of Darwin tomorrow afternoon, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.

A spokesperson for BoM said the tropical low, which will be called Tropical Cyclone Francis if it continues to develop, will fall as a category one cyclone and intensify as it moves in a south-westerly direction.

It is predicted to further intensify into a category two cyclone by Wednesday, which could impact the North Kimberley coast.

According to the BoM, there is a high chance the North Kimberley Coast will experience heavy rainfall and wind gusts of more than 110km/h and advise communities in this area to take precautions accordingly.
