A man charged in connection with the death of a woman whose body was found behind a shopping centre in Broome has appeared in court.

Les McLarty, 20, did not enter a plea or apply for bail from the dock in Broome Magistrate’s Court last Monday.MAR20

He was charged with an act or omission causing bodily harm or danger following the discovery of a 23-year-old Port Hedland woman in Chinatown last Saturday morning.MAR18

He nodded when Magistrate Tanya Watt asked him if he understood the charges she read to him and was remanded back into custody to reappear in court on April 7.

Major Crime detectives arrived in Broome on Saturday to investigate the death and a back section of car park behind Coles was cordoned off with a number of vehicles still parked in bays.

The vehicles were later allowed to be driven away pending checks with police at the exit.
