Mrs Australia to help judge Miss Kalgoorlie pageant

The inaugural Miss Kalgoorlie pageant will be judged by the reigning Mrs Australia crown-holder, who has strong ties to the Goldfields region.
Monique Sawyer, who has accumulated several crowns and sashes throughout her pageant career, will be one of the judges in next weekend’s Miss Kalgoorlie pageant.
After placing first runner-up as Mrs Western Australia last year, Mrs Sawyer was invited to come back to the pageant this year and compete as Mrs Australia for the title of International Miss.
With the pageant taking place in September, Mrs Sawyer said she was excited to make a trip to Kalgoorlie-Boulder beforehand to help inspire the community and share her wisdom ahead of the local pageant.
“My roots run very deep in Kalgoorlie so for me to come back as an empowered woman — someone that’s gone on to become educated . . . seen the world and come back — to share my wisdom, I feel very grateful for that,” she said.
“I hope that my story of triumph over adversity, from being a teen mum to go on and becoming educated to now holding the title Mrs Australia, I hope that that inspires women in the community to live up to their potential and become the best versions of themselves.”
Mrs Sawyer said she was looking for someone who embodies resilience, inner beauty, leadership, community service and helping others for the title of Miss Kalgoorlie.
“I’m really looking forward to the pageant most specifically because I love the sense of community and a pageant like Miss Kalgoorlie, it uplifts the town and it uplifts the people,” she said.
Her visit will also see Mrs Sawyer launch her new business, Diamond Crown Consultancy, offering personal development and coaching to empower women to lead with “strength and sparkle”.
She said the business was not only for pageantry contestants, but also for any woman who wanted to level up in confidence, personally develop, career or help find their voice in challenging situations.
“I feel like Kalgoorlie is the heart of the Golden State, and what better place to ignite a movement of strong and confident women,” she said.
“It’s also the place that gave my ancestors a new beginning, so I will be returning to honour that legacy and to help other women create their own golden future.
“While Kalgoorlie has built its name on gold, I believe that it’s time to uncover a different kind of wealth and through Diamond Crown Consulting, that’s the inner sparkle of the confident and empowered women that are the backbone of communities like Kalgoorlie.”
Miss Kalgoorlie will take place at the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Racing Club on June 14 and 15.
