Man fights for life after hammer attack
A 44-YEAR-OLD man suffered life-threatening injuries when he was allegedly attacked by another man with a hammer in Broome last night.
Broome Detectives have charged a 39-year-old man with aggravated grievous bodily harm over the assault outside a house in Cox Place.
Police say the victim was speaking to a female resident of the house around 8.15pm when the 39-year-old man came out and assaulted him with a hammer, leaving him unconscious and causing life-threatening head injuries.
The alleged offender then fled but was later arrested and charged. He is due to face Broome Magistrates Court today.
The victim was taken by ambulance to Broome Hospital.
