Freo clinic inspires young guns

Nearly 100 of the Kimberley’s aspiring footballers showed off their skills at the Fremantle Dockers Next Generation Academy Talent Day on Saturday.
The aim of the clinic was to introduce aspiring boys and girls between 11 and 14 to local competitions and identify and develop young talent.

Fremantle Football Club NGA manager Wade Splicker said the clinic would show the people of the Kimberley that there was a pathway to further opportunities.
“There is some great talent in the Kimberley,” he said.
“Hopefully the NGA shows that there is now a clear pathway to further develop this talent and provide opportunities not only for the very elite players, but other talented players as well.”

The Fremantle Football Club staff took the children through a number of drills, including kicking, handballing, sprinting, vertical leaps and accuracy.
