Runners of all abilities will be heading to Cable Beach for the invigorating West Kimberley Clontarf Community Fun Run this weekend.

The free event organised by the Clontarf Foundation will feature a short 4km dash from Gantheaume Point Beach to Minyirr Park and back on Saturday, August 26.

Participants will be able to sign in at the event at 6.30am at Gantheaume Point Beach for the 7am start and celebrate with a barbecue breakfast at the finish line.

The Clontarf Foundation’s West Kimberley Academy associate director Jack Reagan said the fun run would be an excellent day outside for the whole family, with prizes for adult and student finishers.

“The fun run is a community activity designed for interaction between community members and Clontarf participants,” he said.

“Clontarf students endeavour to give back to the community and be seen as role models, and the Community Fun Run is one way of achieving this. The Clontarf Foundation exists to improve the education, discipline, self-esteem, life skills and employment prospects of young Aboriginal men and, by doing so, equip them to participate more meaningfully in society.”
