An aerial search is under way for a four-wheel-driver missing on the Canning Stock Route in the WA outback.

61-year-old Waroona man Phillip Blampied was due to return home a week ago from a trip through the Talawan Track, Canning Stock Route, Wiluna and the Granite Sky Walk.

He is an experienced outback traveller but the area has experienced heavy rains.

Newman Police are currently conducting an aerial search of the Canning Stock Route for Mr Blampied and his white Nissan Patrol with the licence plate 1GDT951.

Anyone with information on the location of Mr Blampied is asked to call police on 131 444.
