Festival no match for seasoned runner

Perth athlete Conor Quinn blitzed the field with a 22-minute lead at the Broome International Airport Marathon Festival over the weekend.

Quinn won the 42.2km event with a time of 3hr.2min., pipping pursuers Todd Dennis and Ryan Lansfield to the finish on Cable Beach on Sunday. Timber Creek’s Emily Lamrock placed fourth and was the first woman across the line in a time of 3:36.

The beach was awash with athletes as around 24 people took part in the marathon, 60 in the 21.1km Phoenix Fitness Half Marathon and around 60 in the 10.5km Matso’s Dash.

Keegan Crage set the equal best time in the half-marathon at 1hr 30min. 41sec. alongside fellow runner Gary Couanis.

They were trailed by Gavan Cruise at 1:36.

Peter Egan took out the win in the 10.5km dash with a time of 0:43:10, closely followed by Jarrad Turner and Natalie Scutchings.
