Broome’s slumbering dragons are set to wake as the Broome Rotary Club announces entries are open for its “oar-some” annual regatta.

The 2017 Broome Dragon Boat Regatta is expected to be held at Town Beach on Saturday, September 9, with numerous spectators, fierce competitors and hopefully a lot of funds raised for the organisation’s community projects.

The day will start with a captains’ briefing at 8.30am, followed by team marches and the traditional Dotting of the Eyes ceremony before the first race about 9am.

Broome Rotary’s Richard Baker said teams entering should nominate their rowers and sweep as quickly as possible because the total number of teams was expected to be capped at 20.
