An upcoming feature film currently being shot in the Kimberley is one of seven movies boosted by recent funding.

WA company Screenwest was presented a $7 million Lotterywest grant from the State Government yesterday for seven films, including Dirt Music, which is currently being shot in Cape Leveque, 200km from Broome.

Culture and Arts Minister David Templeman travelled to the set of the big screen adaptation of the Tim Winton bestseller to make the announcement yesterday.

He said it was important the Government enabled WA stories to reach the screen so that “a distinct Western Australian voice can touch audiences around the globe.”
