Bushfire alert downgraded
The bushfire alert for the Coconut Wells area, in Waterbank near Broome, has been downgraded to “watch and act.”
A statement by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services this afternoon said weather conditions had eased, but there was still a possible threat to lives and homes as a bushfire approached the area.
The alert was sent out at 4.25pm.
Earlier today, DFES issued an “emergency warning” for people in Coconut Well and southern parts of Waterbank and urged them to evacuate or take shelter.
A “watch in act” remains in place for southern parts of Waterbank and 4 Mile.
