Broome has just received its first droplets of rain for the wet season after some high level weather activity overnight.

Bureau of Meteorology observer Daniel Hayes said the Broome station did not register an amount significant enough to be measured, however light rain was observed at 8.30pm yesterday, 4am and 7am this morning.

“High based and mid level activity with light showers in Broome - thunderstorms around Derby and south of Roebuck plains,” he said.

“Although not much activity is expected in the coming days, we are heading into that wet season period and won’t see much rain until December.”

“(Residents) around town measured some rain – (and) there was 27mls recorded at Curtin RAAF base yesterday.”
