A woman is facing serious charges after a 10-year-old girl was admitted to hospital with significant injuries in Queensland.

Police allege the 40-year-old woman tortured and neglected a child at a Logan Reserve home.

An investigation was launched after the girl was admitted to the Queensland Children’s Hospital on February 9, suffering dehydration, critical malnutrition and significant untreated injuries.

The child remains in the intensive care unit in a stable condition.

“Police were notified and commenced an investigation, declaring a crime scene at the child’s Logan Reserve home,” a police statement reads.

“Following extensive investigations, a 40-year-old Logan Reserve woman has now been charged with three counts of fail to supply necessaries and one count of torture.”

The woman is due to appear at the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
