Pilbara Ports has found a contractor for stage two of the Dampier Link Bridge, a 57m bridge that will connect the Dampier Cargo Wharf to the Dampier Bulk Handling Facility.

NRW Pty Ltd and Brady Marine and Civil Pty Ltd will design and build the linking bridge as part of the Dampier Cargo Wharf Projects.

Pilbara MLA Kevin Michel said the contract marked an exciting phase in the advancement of the projects.

The works will also include demolishing and removing the existing Southern Mooring Dolphin, piling works and constructing a reinforced concrete deck.

Work on the Dampier Bulk Handling Facility is also under way with demolition works, dredging, drilling and blasting complete, and wharf construction in progress.

Federal Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government Minister Catherine King said the Dampier Cargo Wharf Projects would support regional growth and bolster Australia’s competitiveness.

“Enhancing the Port of Dampier is about futureproofing one of Australia’s most important export gateways, ensuring it remains fit for purpose as demand continues to grow,” she said.

WA Ports and Regional Development Minister Stephen Dawson said the works would provide critical advancement in enhancing the region’s direct shipping capabilities.

“Our dedication to infrastructure expansion will foster economic growth, provide support for regional communities, and bolster emerging industries in the Pilbara for years to come,” he said.

Federal Senator for WA Glenn Sterle said the works would support local jobs while improving the port’s capacity, safety and long-term productivity.

“Securing this stage two contract to enhance the Port of Dampier is a significant step in strengthening Australia’s trade and supply chains, ensuring this critical port can continue to support our resources sector and the national economy,” he said.

This Dampier Bulk Handling Facility is on track to be finished by the first half of 2026, with the link bridge expected to be complete and fully operational by the end of the year.
