There are 1600 residents in the Perth Hills facing a morning without electricity after a power outage.

The fault, which was reported just after 6am on Thursday, has plunged Roleystone into darkness, with 1599 customers affected.

A single property in the neighbouring suburb of Martin has also been caught up in the blackout.

Western Power crews are working to identify the cause of the fault and restore services to the area.

Power is expected to be restored by 1pm.
