South Hedland detectives seek public assistance as investigations into suspicious scrub fires continue

South Hedland detectives are calling for public information as they investigate a series of scrub fires. Police said three scrub fires were sparked between 2.05pm and 3.05pm on January 14. A fire on Koombana Avenue ignited around 2.05pm, a fire on Daylesford Road began around 2.25pm and another was ignited on Kangaroo Crescent around 3.05pm. Police and Department of Fire and Emergency Services attended the fires, extinguishing them before they were able to spread to nearby homes. Detectives are urging members of the public with CCTV, mobile phone or dash-cam vision of the area bordered by Daylesford Road, Murdoch Drive, Masters Way, Steamers Avenue and Captains Way or anyone who saw anything suspicious activity near where the fires were sparked between 1.30pm and 3.30pm to contact Crime Stoppers.
