Police are appealing for public assistance following a series of burglaries and vehicle thefts in South Hedland and Wedgefield in WA’s North West over the weekend.

Between the evening of Saturday, September 13, and the morning of Sunday, September 14, five burglaries were reported, with six vehicles stolen across the two areas.

Police say offenders involved have not been found.

Among the vehicles taken was a blue Holden Cruze sedan from a residence in Pippingarra and a white Toyota LandCruiser from a warehouse on Munda Way, Wedgefield.

Around 4am on Sunday morning, police located the two vehicles travelling recklessly on Murdoch Drive. A tyre deflating device was successfully deployed, causing both vehicles to be abandoned. The occupants of the vehicles then fled the area.

Police later sighted the vehicles around 2.45am near Koombana Avenue and Captains Way, but the pursuit was called off due to safety concerns. The Hilux was later found abandoned in the Deepwater area on North Circular Road, while the Prado was also recovered.

In the same evening, between 8pm and 3am, offenders broke into a residence on Eucalypt Court, damaging property and stealing a white Toyota Hilux, which was later found abandoned behind a property on Gascoyne Court.

Another white Toyota Hilux was reported stolen from Delamere Place sometime between 7.30pm and 5.30am. It was also located abandoned in the Deepwater area alongside one of the previously stolen vehicles.
