The active citizenship award was granted to Divine You for helping homeless and disabled people in Narrogin

A not-for-profit organisation steadfast on helping the homeless, disabled and elderly, has claimed Narrogin’s active citizen award. Divine You Incorporated accepted the active citizenship (group or event) award on Sunday at Narrogin’s Australia Day celebrations at Alby Park for its work supporting the community. The Shire of Narrogin described Divine You as “a beacon of hope and support” and said the organisation “has made a profound impact on the Narrogin community”. Sister Sahaya started Divine You in Narrogin in 2018. It is connected to an Australian and Indian organisation established in 2016. Divine You offers free community lunch every Saturday and on Father’s Day, Mother’s Day and Christmas Day. It also provides emergency food and accommodation for the homeless until they can find their feet. The group also hosts funerals for free for struggling families and loved ones. Sister Sahaya said she “finds happiness in giving”, and was born to “raise the community”. “It’s a sacred life, sacred where you live, sacred space where you share your life with people. You start to see it’s something more then you,” she said. “Our mission seeks to put love into action. “We don’t leave anyone on their own. Sister Sahaya said Divine You’s volunteers cried when they heard the kind words of the community as the organisation was announced as the award winner. “They are so happy — they deserve it,” she said. “Some of the commentary from the families, we were sitting in tears, tears of joy. “The volunteers are beautiful people. They are chosen by God. They have a calling.” In 2025, Divine You will be working with the St Vincent de Paul Society WA — Narrogin Conference to help residents with their electricity, gas and phone bills.
