Cuballing produced a powerful four-quarter performance in their round seven match on Saturday, defeating Flames by a commanding 39 goals in the Narrogin and Districts Netball Association A-grade competition.
Cuballing set the tone from the opening centre pass, moving the ball with precision and converting strongly under the post.
Regina Kickett was a standout in the circle, finishing accurately and providing a reliable target all game.
Flames worked hard to stay in touch early, but Cuballing’s defensive intensity forced turnovers and helped them establish a solid lead at the first break.
Flames showed plenty of determination despite the scoreboard pressure.
Their defensive unit battled relentlessly against Cuballing’s well‑structured attack while the mid-court pushed to create opportunities in transition.
Nikita Osgood impressed with her defensive pressure and willingness to contest every ball.
Jess Joldescu worked tirelessly through the mid-court, linking both ends of the court, and Bella Callope and Claudia Rourke remained composed in the shooting circle, despite constant pressure from Cuballing.
However, Cuballing’s strength across the court was evident. Jayeisha Ford was influential, disrupting Flames’ attacking flow and continually regaining possession.
Chelsea Ugle’s pressure and sharp mid-court movement allowed Cuballing to extend their lead each quarter and underline their status as one of the competition’s benchmark sides.
While the result was tough for Flames, the young team showed resilience and strong teamwork, competing hard until the final whistle, and all while keeping smiles on their faces.
Wickepin defeated Wagin 62-34 in the other A-grade match on Saturday, and Williams walked off 58-21 winners of their match against Olympics Gold on Friday night.
NDNA players also made the journey to Albany on June 14 to compete in the Albany Junior Netball Carnival, the first time the association had selected an 11-and-under side for their Rising Stars program.
These small but mighty girls headed into their first carnival games with a hunger to win and were dominant all day, eventually claiming their age group title after defeating Narrikup in the grand final 10-3.
The 12-and-under team also worked hard to create some winning combinations.
They flew around the court and their skill progression was evident, also having a dominant day on the court.
The team faced Bullets 2 in the grand final, and the game was a good contest but NDNA steadied beautifully to seal the win 16-6.
The 13-and-under NDNA team had limited court time playing together heading into the carnival, and gained some valuable on-court experience.
Losing their first game by one goal, they needed to settle to ensure they got to the grand final.
They then had several wins, giving the team confidence to attack the ball with more intensity.
However, they met Katanning in the semifinal and the teams were evenly matched.
They went goal for goal through all four quarters to see the game end in a draw and NDNA finish in third place on percentage.
