Williams Netball Club had an exciting day of competition for the Narrogin and Districts Netball Association, hosting Wagin in a three-match series on their home court on Saturday.

While the day ended with mixed results, the Williams players showed great determination and skill throughout, making for an action-packed afternoon of netball.

The opening match had Williams 3 facing off against Wagin 4.

Williams 3 came out strong, dominating the game from the start and securing an impressive 42-16 victory.

The team’s defence was on point, with stand-out performances from both the shooters Jen South and Stephanie Whitting and defenders Hayley Fedrickson and Jessica Carmichael.

Wagin 4 struggled to break down Williams 3’s solid structure, and despite a valiant effort, they couldn’t get back into the match.

Best players were awarded to Emma Turner, Carmichael and Fredrickson from Williams 3 and Donna Clark and Demelza Iles from Wagin 4.

Next up, Wagin 2 went head-to-head with Williams 2.

This match was much closer, however Wagin 2 showed their experience in the final stages, edging out Williams 2 with a narrow 45-41 win.

The game was a hard-fought battle, with Williams 2’s shooters Ellie Cook and Kate Flavel giving Wagin 2 a run for their money, but ultimately, Wagin’s defensive resilience from Shona Banks and Brianna Davidson in the final quarter made the difference.

Best players were awarded to Cook from Williams 2 and Banks, Kaya-Lee Te Kapa and Journey Te Kapa from Wagin 2.

The final game of the day was Wagin 1 taking on Williams 1 in a fast-paced and intense showdown.

The first quarter displayed a close match, both teams equal on 11 goals.

Despite Williams 1’s spirited play, they were unable to stop the powerful attack of Wagin 1, who triumphed 57-41.

Wagin 1’s precision in both shooting from Lilli Worth and Regina Kickett and transition play proved too much for Williams 1, who kept fighting until the final minute.

Best players were awarded to Denver Henson and Liz Fowler from Williams 1, and Lili Worth and Kickett from Wagin 1.
