Uber transport is coming to Geraldton and the rideshare giant has put a call out for local drivers.

Uber wants residents who are interested in working to their own schedule to register their interest as driver partners.

The arrival of Uber offers flexible work hours and a new way for Geraldton locals to earn an income, and another way for residents and tourists to get around town.

Head of driver operations at Uber Australia and New Zealand Daniel Lopez said: “We’re excited to be preparing to bring Uber to Geraldton and to offer locals the opportunity to earn flexibly by driving on the platform.

“We encourage anyone who’s interested to sign up as soon as possible, as the onboarding process can take at least three to four weeks.”

Uber launched in Australia in 2012 and has welcomed over 200,000 driver partners and delivery people who earn through the platform nationally.

The Uber app prioritises safety for both drivers and passengers with features including GPS tracking for every journey, sharing trip details with trusted contacts, 24/7 in-app support and more.

More details of the launch for prospective drivers can be found at uber.com/drive.

It is unclear exactly when Uber will launch in Geraldton.
