Shaun Henry Ronan: Second home detention bail report ordered for man accused of child abuse material offences

A second home detention bail report has been ordered for a Geraldton man charged with nine offences alleging he solicited, possessed and shared child abuse material, including videos depicting children being sexually abused. Shaun Henry Ronan, 36, appeared in Geraldton Magistrates Court via video link on Monday for a part-heard bail application after authorities raided his home following a tip-off from the United States’ National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children. Mr Ronan is charged with three counts of transmitting child abuse material using a carriage service, three counts of causing child abuse material to be transmitted to himself using a carriage service, two counts of soliciting child abuse material using a carriage service and one count of possessing child abuse material obtained or accessed using a carriage service. Mr Ronan’s previous address for home detention was found to be unsuitable by Adult Community Corrections after the owner of the residence advised that she would be “unable to accommodate” Mr Ronan, and that she had a “full household and childcare obligations”. Community Corrections advised magistrate Kelly Thompson that a new report would take 10 days. Mr Ronan is expected to appear in court again on June 9.
