The Ugle Fabrications La Fiamma women’s squad travelled to Perth again for their second Women’s League Cup with the Reds once again impressing with a 10-0 win against Vic Park.

Macie Gray stole the show with an impressive hat-trick after finding the back of the net in the second minute of the game, kickstarting the Reds’ day in Perth.

Teammate Monse Fernandez came through strong with a hat-trick too in a stunning performance. Fernandez followed Gray with the second goal of the game coming in the sixth minute with the squad going full steam ahead.

Fernandez scored again in the 15th minute after an own goal from Vic Park before Olivia Bidwell scored in the 16th minute making it 5-0 to the Reds.

Gray completed her hat-trick quickly with two goals within 10 minutes of play, which was then followed by Star-ra Ralston who found the back of the net in the 62nd minute.

The cherry on top of the day for the Reds was Fernandez completing her hat-trick in the 65th minute as Zannah D’Silva added one of her own to make it a 10-0 win for La Fiamma.

Now with two big wins under their belts in the Women’s League Cup in Perth, the Reds have made the final 16 with their coach Mark Gray indicating the work was far from over.

“I am really proud of them, but we have a new challenge in front of us now,” he said.

“We have had two big wins now in Perth so we will be looking to carry those performances into the next fixtures.

“We get comments from players, coaches and staff from other teams saying how impressed they are with us so that is pleasing to hear.

“The real challenge now comes in the final 16, the teams will be better and stronger, but we welcome the challenge and look forward to it.”

After their Sunday game, the squad had to travel back to Geraldton with many of them returning to work on Monday before playing in the local league on Monday night, where once again they scored a strong 4-0 win over Chapman Athletic.

Gray said the challenges that came with playing in Perth were tough but worth it in the long run.

“It’s hard travelling back and forth but the opportunity to play in Perth means the world to the group,” he said.

“It is such valuable experience and learning playing against new teams.

“It is also great to see the girls growing in confidence as they begin to string these wins together.”
