Biggest Morning Tea fundraising event in Nannup raised $6000 for cancer awareness, prevention and treatment

More than $6000 has been raised by the Nannup community for cancer research and treatment, with pancreatic cancer battler Jessica Giddens hosting a morning tea. Ms Gidden’s Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea fundraiser in Nannup raised $6000 on June 29, despite the host herself battling pancreatic cancer, a fight she has been part of for the past five years. “The reason why I do this (hosting a morning tea) is because I have been going through pancreatic cancer since 2020 and it has now spread to my lungs,” she told the Times. “I have to do chemotherapy for the rest of my life.” Around 100 people attended and raised the funds towards cancer treatment and awareness using silent auctions, lucky dips and other events. “We had some beautiful paintings at the auction, and the great support we receive from the town of Nannup, and others — like Manjimup and Busselton — have been great,” Ms Giddens said. Other organisations helped the fundraising with various donations such as Brownes providing dairy for the event, Cheesecake Shop Busselton donating cake and local musicians performed at the event.
