A man is in hospital after being shot out the front of a busy CBD strip club in what police believe to be a targeted attack.

The man, believed to be in late teens or early twenties, is in a stable condition after being gunned down at the front of The Men’s Gallery on Lonsdale St in Melbourne at about 4am on Sunday.

The shooting supposedly followed an altercation between two males inside the strip club and police inspector Chris Murray said they hoped to move quickly on the incident even though the victim wasn’t co-operating.

“These altercations involving shootings aren’t the norm, there’s probably more to it. We don’t know yet,” he said.

“Any firearm incident inside any venue is a concern.

“Armed Crime Task Force are charged with the investigation and are looking to get an early arrest.

“We’d like to have the offender served Christmas dinner in Prison, that’d put a smile on our faces.”

The gunman fled the scene in a vehicle quickly following the shooting with parts of Lonsdale St now cordoned off while police investigate.

Police are currently treating the shooting as targeted, however the exact circumstances of the incident are still being determined.

Anyone with CCTV footage or information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
