Seniors exhibit their artistic talent at Germanus Kent show
Broome aged-care facility Germanus Kent held an art exhibition last Wednesday, with the best work of the residents displayed for all to see.
The exhibition was unveiled by indigenous residents Googai Kukia and Bertha Linty who is a renowned artist from Bidyadanga.
In total there was work from more than 20 Germanus Kent residents on display, with a host of friends and family in attendance for the artwork reveal.
Representatives from Kimberley Stolen Generation Aboriginal Corporation, Yawuru community, Shire of Broome, Broome Regional Aboriginal Medical Service and Broome hospital were in attendance.
Activities supervisor Janet Leslie said the exhibition was a notable success.
“We received lots of positive feedback and it was great to see so many people in attendance,” she said.
“You couldn’t wipe the smiles off the residents’ faces after the exhibition, and it is clear to see the artistic talent of the residents of Germanus Kent.”
