Roebuck score big victory
Roebuck Cricket Club has consolidated top spot on the premiership ladder with a comprehensive win over the Wanderers at Male Oval on Saturday.
Batting first, Roebuck compiled 9-189 from their 35 overs. Lynton Phillipson top scored with 49.
Joel Unicomb made 22 and Craig Wilson 21.
For the Wanderers, wickets were shared, with Dom Tracey taking 3- 24, Mick Mickan 3-33 and Ben Rahman 3-43.
In reply, the Wanderers struggled and were rolled for 82 in just 17 overs.
Mickan top scored with 38 while Rahman made 19 and Brendan Cox 12.
Joey Wevers took the bowling honours with the impressive figures of 5-4, while Jarrad Withers took 2-18 and Craig Wilson 2-41.
At St Mary’s, Mangrove recovered from the disappointment of last week to easily defeat the Dirty Dozen.
The Dozen won the toss and batted first. They started steadily but crashed to 9-50.
However, tail-enders Angus Donaldson and Owen Stokell put on 39 in an unbeaten last-wicket partnership to take the Dozen’s total to 9-89 from their 35 overs.
Donaldson top scored with 25 not out, while for Mangrove Farley Murton took 3-7 and Dean Holder 3-10.
Joel Handford, Liam Bagnall and Dan Huntley also claimed a Dozen scalp.
In reply, Mangrove were never in trouble and, with the assistance of a third-wicket partnership of 85 by Holder and Corey Knox, they reached 6-185 from their 35 overs.
Holder top scored with 67 and Corey Knox made 54 not out.
For the Dozen, Stokell took 2-8, while Donaldson, Jeremy McCardle, Justin Crowley and Brett Morley each took a wicket.
This Saturday, Roebuck will take on the Dirty Dozen at Male Oval, while the Wanderers will travel to St Mary’s to tackle Mangrove.
With only two rounds remaining, Roebuck are on top of the premiership table with 63.28 points followed closely by Mangrove on 60.97, Wanderers on 42.59 and Dirty Dozen on 23.31.
