More than 100 artists are set to feature at galleries, arts centres and creative workshops and in 32 locations across the Kimberley as part of the inaugural Kimberley Open Studios Trail this week.

Running from June 27 to July 4, the trail spans from One Arm Point to Wyndham.

It will see individual artists, Indigenous art centres, creative groups and galleries open their doors to showcase exhibition launches, family open days, skills demonstrations and interactive workshops, alongside original paintings, ceramics, prints and wearable art.

Kimberley Arts Network executive officer Clancy McDowell said she saw the need to support the growth of the Kimberley’s exceptional talent, which is often hidden due to vastness of the region.

“We knew from our experience with the Broome Fringe Festival that an art trail was a popular activity, and so this is a great opportunity to shine a light on the incredible amount and range of arts right across the whole region,” she said.

The trail will also feature the opening of three new art spaces: Tjarrambayi Arts in Kununurra, the Ingarlgalandij Arts and Culture hub at Ardyaloon on the Dampier Peninsula and the new Kimberley Art Gallery.

Tickets and booking are available on the Kimberley Arts Network website.
