Drivers urged to take care

NICOLA KALMARBroome Advertiser

Drivers are being reminded to watch their speed in school zones.

Broome Senior Sergeant Jason Van Der Ende said the message for drivers was simple.

“Slow down and be careful,” he said.

Sen. Sgt Van Der End said police would be focusing on all schools in the area to ensure drivers were obeying the 40km/h speed limit in school zones.

“There are new kids starting school this term that will be walking to school,” he said.

“Drivers need to be responsible.” Sergeant Brent Keenan said there were no excuses for disobeying the rules.

“The times and zones are clearly marked and signposted,” he said.

(“We’re asking drivers) to please remember these zones are specifically designed for the safety of both parents and our children.”
