Guns allegedly seized, WA man charged over alleged anti-Semitic posts, multiple firearms allegedly seized

A Western Australian man has been charged by police over alleged anti-Semitic comments he made online, with officers seizing multiple firearms during their arrest. State Security Investigation Group officers laid the charges against the 39-year-old overnight following an investigation into alleged online antisemitic comments made via a social media platform, WA Police said in a statement. “Police will further allege the man was a licensed firearms holder and possessed several registered firearms as well as a quantity of ammunition, all of which were seized,” WA Police said in a statement. “The man’s eligibility to hold a firearms licence will be subject to review.” The man is facing charges of conduct intended to racially harass, carrying or possessing a prohibited weapon and failure to store a firearm or related thing in compliant storage. He was charged under Operation Dalewood - the police operation specifically set up in response to the Bondi terror attack. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said he had been briefed on the arrest by the acting WA Premier and Australian Federal Police (AFP) Commissioner. “There is no place in Australia for anti-Semitism, hate and violent ideologies,” he said in a statement. “I thank the work of the WA Police in quickly identifying this individual and acting immediately. “Federal agencies through the Joint Counter Terrorism Team have offered full support to WAPOL”.
