OFA 2025: Three teams locked on same points after Bombers and Eagles record solid round five victories

Three teams are locked on three wins each after an intriguing first five rounds of the 2025 Ongerup Football Association league competition. Reigning premiers Lake Grace-Pingrup and early season surprise packet Jerramungup were winners in round five on Saturday, that pair joining Gnowangerup with 12 premiership points at the top of the ladder. The trio are separated by only percentage after the Bombers were 33-point winners against the Bulldogs in Lake Grace, while the Eagles also finished 33-point victors in their clash with Boxwood Hill. Prized recruit Justin Joyce was dominant through the midfield and finished with three goals as the Bombers ran away with a 11.12 (78) to 6.9 (45) victory. Joyce and Luke Moore both finished with three majors, while player-coach Jack Carruthers and Bailey McGlinn also booted two. Five unanswered goals in the second term set up the Bombers third win of the season with Lewis Garard and Harris Regan joining Moore and Joyce as the most influential players. The visitors kicked three goals to nil in the third term to get back within 20 points, but another four from the home side in the last put the result beyond doubt. Lewis Davis, Timm House, Bodean Morton and James Dewar (two goals) were the top performers for the Bulldogs. The Eagles booted five goals in the final term to shake off a persistent Boxwood outfit in Boxwood. Boxwood conceded four goals in the first term, but fought their way back into the contest and trailed by only 12 points at three-quarter-time. Led by Cameron Florance, Connor Hawkins and Ben Hislop, the Eagles found another gear in the last on their way to a 13.8 (86) to 7.11 (53) triumph. Boxwood, who are still searching for their first win, were best served by Brett Plane, Bradley Joyce, George Bungey and Samuel Bertola.
