2025 Great Southern Bloom Festival: Noongar artist Carleen Eades set for Gnowangerup CRC’s Ebb and Flow show

Renowned Noongar artist Carleen Eades is among those exhibiting in the Ebb and Flow event, which launches at the Gnowangerup Community Resource Centre on September 28. Eades has just finished showing her work at Albany’s Vancouver Arts Centre and will be a major attraction for the exhibition which is part of the 2025 Great Southern Treasures’ Bloom Festival. The Ebb and Flow exhibition in Gnowangerup is providing a showcase for many local artists and features a range of media. Visitors can expect to see paintings and sculptures, stitching and photography as well as Eades’ stunning images and craftwork. Another artist exhibiting is painter Lyndall Hanbury whose work on show is inspired by the view from her house across the different seasons. She said the Ebb and Flow event was a welcome opportunity for local artists. “There are not many places in the shire where we can exhibit but the CRC is a great venue with a nice set-up,” Hanbury said. “I have dabbled in all sorts of media but I’m concentrating at the moment on acrylics. “We have been in the Great Southern for 10 years, I have a great view of the Stirling Range from my house and I am inspired by that.” The exhibition aims to explore themes of change, movement and life, inspired by the rhythms of the landscape. The Bloom Festival is Great Southern Treasures’ signature annual event highlighting the character of rural WA and including a wide range of events across the region. The festival, which includes events from all over the Great Southern, runs from September 27 until October 26. The exhibition’s official opening is on September 28 at 4pm.
