The 35-year-old driver reportedly reversed her Renault SUV over the two children this afternoon, Nine News reported.

The outlet reported that an early avenue of investigation included a theory that the woman had intended to move the car forward, unaware it was still in reverse.

The driver was uninjured.

Police have begun an investigation into the crash.
