Two males, including a 17-year-old, to face court charged over armed robbery of a couple in South Perth

Two males, including a 17-year-old, are expected to face court on Saturday charged in relation to a terrifying armed robbery of a couple in South Perth overnight. The alleged incident took place about 12.30am on Mill Point Road. A 40-year-old man and his 38-year female partner were standing on the road when a Subaru Forester station wagon pulled up beside them and two males got out of the car and approached them. It will be alleged one of the males pulled out a large knife and threatened the couple demanding money and their mobile phones whilst the second male stood nearby. The two offenders then fled the area in the car. Police said Cannington Detectives later spotted the Subaru Forrester station wagon at 1.30am on Hill Street in Perth. Officers tried to stop the vehicle and activated emergency lights and sirens, but it is alleged the driver drove on to St Georges Terrace then through a red light. It is alleged the car continued to travel through the city towards West Perth then through the suburbs of Daglish, Claremont, Nedlands and Dalkeith before the driver abandoned the car on Osborne Parade, Claremont, which was a no through road. Police said the driver then fled on foot. A search was carried out and officers located the accused driver hiding in bushes in a house immediately adjacent to where the vehicle was abandoned. A 23-year-old Nedlands man has been charged with aggravated armed robbery, reckless driving to escape pursuit by police, failing to stop, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. A 17-year-old male has been charged with aggravated armed robbery. Both were expected to appear at Perth Magistrates Court on Saturday.
