Two charged over alleged assault and robbery at Broome service station

Two men have been charged over the alleged assault of two women and robbery of a Broome service station in the early hours of Saturday morning. Police say the pair — a 25-year-old man and a 49-year-old man — broke into the 24-hour BP service station about 1.30am on Saturday. The men allegedly smashed a window to get inside the Guy St store before assaulting two women during the terrifying ordeal. They then forced one of the staff members to open a cash register before allegedly stealing cash and cigarettes. Police say the pair fled the service station before being arrested by Broome detectives. On Saturday, both men were each charged with one count of aggravated burglary and commit on a place and one count of aggravated robbery. They are due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court on Sunday. Investigations are ongoing.
