Pulkit Gandabhai Patel: Driver accused of seriously injuring cyclist in Westminster hit and run faces court

A 43-year-old man accused of seriously injuring a cyclist in an alleged hit and run has fronted court for the first time. Pulkit Gandabhai Patel faced Perth Magistrates Court on Monday charged with failing to stop and ensuring assistance was received after incident occasioning grievous bodily harm over the alleged incident in Westminster on December 15. Police say Mr Patel was driving a white Mitsubishi panel van when he allegedly hit a 60-year-old male cyclist on Wanneroo Road, near the intersection of Amberley Way, about 6pm. Mr Patel allegedly fled the scene before returning a short time later. The cyclist suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital for medical treatment. Mr Patel’s matter was adjourned on Monday for legal advice. He will return to court on February 2 for a plea.
