Police charge 47-year-old man from Hovea after crash in Greenmount on Christmas day injured six people

A 47-year-old man from Hovea has been charged with six counts of careless driving causing death after a horror Christmas day crash in Greenmount that left six people seriously injured. A grey Toyota Corolla hatchback and a silver Hyundai Santa Fe station wagon collided on Great Eastern Highway northbound near the intersection of Old York Road in Greenmount about 4.15pm on December 25. Emergency services rushed to the scene, including multiple St John ambulance crews and the Department of Fire and Emergency. DFES were required to pull out people trapped in their vehicles. Two women, aged 45 and 48, each a passenger in one of the vehicles, were conveyed by ambulance to Royal Perth Hospital with critical injuries. The 48-year-old male driver and two other passengers aged 17 and 10 of the Hyundai Santa Fe were conveyed to hospital with serious injuries. The 47-year-old male driver of the Toyota Corolla sustained minor injuries. The 47-year-old male driver has been charged with six counts of careless driving causing death, grievous bodily harm or bodily harm. He is next due to face the Midland Magistrates Court on August 13.
