Car seized, crime scene declared as police probe ‘suspicious’ disappearance of Pheobe Bishop, 17, who vanished in Bundaberg
The mother of a missing teenager – who has not been seen for a week after vanishing in “suspicious” circumstances – has issued a heartbreaking message on social media as police probe two crime scenes.
Pheobe Bishop, 17, was last seen at Airport Dr in Bundaberg around 8.30am on May 15.
She did not check-in for a booked flight and has not been seen or heard from since.
In a statement, Queensland Police said the girl’s disappearance was being treated as suspicious.
A property in Gin Gin – where Pheobe had been living prior to her disappearance – along with a grey Hyundai ix35 believed to be the car she travelled to Airport Dr in were declared crime scenes on Wednesday.
The Courier Mail reported bags of rubbish were piled up outside the property and dogs – reportedly dead – were also removed.
Acting Police Inspector Ryan Thompson said police were told Pheobe was dropped off at the airport by “associates”.
“We’re still working together to piece together her movements on that day,” Inspector Thompson said.
“We do have concerns for her safety due to the reason that it’s been nearly a week since she was last sighted and it’s out of character for her not to take any contact with anyone.
“We also have concerns she has not checked in as she was required to do. Police have reviewed CCTV from the airport. which indicates that she did not enter the terminal.”
A search of Airport Dr and the surrounding areas earlier this week did not result in Pheobe being found, nor any of her belongings.
Insp Thompson said police would continue investigations for as “long as it takes” to locate the missing girl.
Pheobe’s mother Kylie Johnson on Wednesday issued a plea for anyone with information to contact Policelink on 131 444.
“As we enter another day with Pheobe still missing our hearts are breaking more and more,” she wrote on Facebook.
“Phee we just need to know that you’re ok? We just need to hear your voice!”
“We as a family are thankful for the message of support and offers of assistance. Right now we are grasping onto hope and just trying to breathe. Again, all anyone can do to help is keep sharing Pheobe’s flyer.”
Police are appealing to the public for dashcam and CCTV footage of the grey Hyundai ix35 with Queensland registration 414EW3 near the Airport Dr and Samuels Rd area in Bundaberg, and also the Gin Gin area on May 15.
“Anyone with information regarding Pheobe’s whereabouts is urged to contact police immediately.”
Pheobe is described as 180cm tall and of pale complexion with long dyed red hair, and hazel eyes.
She was last seen carrying luggage and wearing a green tank top and grey sweatpants.
Investigations are ongoing.
