The West Kimberley Football League is set for another blockbuster season after fixtures were announced last week and teams warm-up for the end-of-April start date.

First round will kick off with the men’s teams on Friday April 29 at Broome Recreation and Aquatic Centre with the Broome Bulls vs Towns match starting at 6pm and the women’s teams playing after.

This will be followed on Saturday by six games at the BRAC, with the Bidyadanga Emus up against the Derby Tigers, the Looma Eagles facing the Peninsula Bombers and the Broome Saints against the Cable Beach Greenbacks.

A rematch between grand finalists - the women’s teams for Cable Beach and the Looma Eagles - won’t take place until round three, on Friday May 13.

The 2021 men’s grand finalists, Derby Tigers and Cable Beach Greenbacks, face off in round four, on Saturday May 21.

Cable Beach dominated the competition last season, with both the men’s and women’s teams taking home the premiership.

The Greenbacks crushed the Derby Tigers in the men’s grand final 103-55.

The margin was a little less in the women’s grand final but Cable Beach managed to come out on top again beating the Looma Eagles by 19 points, 46-27.

The Derby Tigers in the men’s and the Looma Eagles in the women’s league are the ones to watch this season as they will surely be trying to get their revenge against the Cable Beach Greenbacks.
