Waringarri Crows win 2025 EKFL grand final against Ord River Magpies

The Waringarri Crows have won their third premiership in a row, defeating the Ord River Magpies in the 2025 East Kimberley Football League grand final at the weekend.
Despite ending fourth on the ladder, the Crows managed to pull off the grand final win after defeating top of the ladder team the Port Wyndham Crocs in the elimination final, securing their spot in the grand final.
In a thrilling decider, both teams pulled out all the stops, but it was ultimately the Crows who managed to clinch the 16.2 (98) to 11.6 (72) win on Kununurra Oval on Saturday.
In the women’s grand final earlier the same day, also on Kununurra Oval, the Ord River Magpies defeated the Port Wyndham Crocs to take home the premiership trophy.
The match went down to the wire, with the Magpies sneaking through to claim the win by just three points, 3.5 (23) to 2.8 (20).
Season awards were also presented at the grand final, with Hezekiah McCorry from the Waringarri Crows receiving the leading goal kicker award, Timothy Mosquito from Warmun Eagles awarded the ABC fairest-and-best award, and Ricky Howard from the Port Wyndham Crocs announced as runner-up fairest and best.
Melvin Tataya from the Waringarri Crows was named best on ground for the grand final, and Darcy Milner was awarded the Vagg Medal for being fairest and best throughout the season.
In the women’s season awards, Kasey Cora from the Port Wyndham Crocs received the leading goal kicker award, Markia Carlton from the Kununurra Demons was awarded the ABC best-and-fairest award, while Jai Ainsworth from the Wyndham Crocs was named runner-up fairest and best.
