Round three of Broome Mixed Netball was a mix of highs and lows, as one team nabbed their first win and another was forced to forfeit.

Fifth-placed Townies managed their first win of the season over the Broomies, with both teams starting strong and Townies heading into the first-quarter break with a one-point lead.

It seems this small margin may have struck Broomies’ confidence as they struggled to keep up with Townies’ fast-paced intercepts in the second and third periods.

With a quarter to go and a score of 24 to 12 favouring Townies, Broomies had one last breath of energy but it was not enough.

The final score of 33 to 18 saw Townies leap ahead of Broomies on the ladder and seal their first win for the season.

There were only two dvision one games this week, with one team forfeiting their match.

Hornet called it quits before their game against TBC , leaving both teams with a collective score of zero for round three.

Finally, Greenbacks were their usual dominating selves, except this week they received a little more resistance than usual against the Fossils.

The game seemed sure to go in Fossils’ favour by the end of the first quarter, with Greenbacks scoring only two goals - a fraction of their usual double digits.

It wasn’t long before they gained a slight margin, however never more than five goals a quarter.

The match ended with Greenbacks winning 18-11, an impressive amount of push back for a team fourth on the ladder.

Greenbacks may have won this one, but Fossils are surely one to watch this term.
