A new scientific approach to group training will be introduced to the North West in the coming months with the Yard Gym set to take over F45 locations in Broome, Karratha and Port Hedland. Over recent years, F45 has proved to be popular with the North West fitness community with locations in Broome, Karratha and Port Hedland enjoying robust membership and participation. But with the ever-changing and rapidly expanding fitness industry, Life and Soul owners Peter Athanitis and Cindy Kempton decided it was time to introduce a new type of training to the North West’s F45 community. “Our franchise agreements for all our studios are coming to the end with F45 in March and we were not prepared to invest in another five years of F45 for our members,” Ms Kempton said. “Our members have achieved unbelievable results from F45, many friendships have been formed and we have experienced a fitness community like no other. “However, as with all industries, change is imminent and when opportunity presents itself, you have to take the risk to give your members something bigger and better for them.” The Yard, presently being fitted out in Broome, will be rolled out to locations in Karratha, Port Hedland and East Fremantle by mid March. At the Yard, two group workout sessions take place simultaneously — one side of the gym is dedicated to the “rig” workout with a concentration on traditional strength training while the other side runs a “turf” workout which focusses on cardio and conditioning. Each session we will have two coaches on the floor, one focusing on strength and the other on conditioning to give constant and consistent training with each session. Ms Kempton said she was extremely excited to introduce the Yard to old and new members alike. “The Yard is innovative, exciting and leans heavily on community training, which is what we are all about,” she said. “The Yard Gym is suitable for our first time exercisers, our weekend warriors, older age group and the athlete. All workouts are scientifically based, giving our members an opportunity to develop their strength to a higher level. “The Yard Gym will change the way you train regardless of your age, fitness level or ability.” The Broome Yard Gym also marks the first time the franchise has ventured into WA after its launch in New South Wales in 2020.
