The highly anticipated A Taste of Broome Festival returns again for its 11th year in August for a three-day extravaganza showcasing Broome’s unique and intoxicating culture. The festival starts on August 24 with its feature event, the A Taste of Broome: Music and Picture Show at Goolarri Amphitheatre, which intertwines Broome distinctive Indigenous culture with its multicultural community. Local Broome artists will also be featured at the event, with an exhibition showcasing their stories and artworks while patrons can enjoy a vast array of delicious traditional cuisine prepared by Broome’s multicultural cooks. On Friday and Saturday the fun continues with the Cultural Hub, which this year features more free activities than ever before with families being able to enjoy Yawuru storytelling, puppetry shows, dance and language lessons, damper making, arts activities, and cultural tours. For the first time, the Cultural Hub will also be host to Wanggajarli Burugun, a repatriation exhibition and project that aims to bring all ancestors home who were removed from Yawuru country during the 18th and 19th centuries.
