Teenage girls due to face court for alleged assault in Cable Beach

Five teenage girls are due to make their first appearance in the Broome Children’s Court next week after their alleged involvement in an assault in the Cable Beach area.

Broome Police Senior Sergeant Dave Whitnell took to social media to announce to the public the girls had been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm after a lengthy investigation into the incident which occurred on Reid Road last month.

It is alleged a group of girls aged between 12 and 13 got off a school bus and assaulted another girl as she was walking home from school.

“The victim was going home from school on a bus and she was walking towards her home address and it is alleged she was approached and attacked by the group of five females,” Sen Sergeant Whitnell said.

“We thank the community for their assistance and ask then to continue providing us with timely information.”

“We are committed to preventing crime and maintaining safety within our community.”

The girls are due to appear in the Broome Children’s Court on Friday September 11.
